I received my MFA in 1985 from Arizona State University and since that time have been living and working in rural Wisconsin, surrounded by forty acres of woods and fields. This location inspires my nature-based imagery, and allows for a lots of focused studio time. Minneapolis and St. Paul are close enough to provide an urban art scene, which I appreciate as well.
Travel outside the Midwest is also an important source of information, inspiration and energy in my work. In 2001 I was a resident at the Centre D’Art I Natura in Catalonia, Spain. This residency, in a remote medieval stone village in the Pyrenees, marked a turning point towards the abstraction of my current body of work. Painting on small sized pieces of paper that I could easily transport home eventually led to the idea of multiple panel paintings, and spending time in the homeland of Gaudi, Miro and Tapies worked a subtle influence on my perceptions and approach to abstraction. Subsequent trips to England, Costa Rica and New Mexico have all provided insights and ideas.

My work is exhibited regularly both regionally and nationally, and is included in many public, private and corporate collections. I have also taught college level courses and have filled a variety of visiting artist and lecture slots at various campuses.
