While it is rather unusual for me to work in an extended series, the strong vertical format of these paintings has remained intriguing to me for the past two years. Most of these are between 7 and 8 feet in height, and a few are about 4 to 5 feet tall. Within each I begin with a range of related colors, then develop contrasts of texture and saturation that range from subtle to bold. Some evoke cool, watery places; others have a warm, rich presence.
