Place to Place

The paintings in this series are in response to my move in the summer of 2021 from rural Wisconsin to my new home in northern New Mexico. Each one relates to a particular moment, emotion, thought, or memory from this time of upheaval and transition. Although the move was a clear and positive choice for a new way of life, leaving behind our home of 43 years was also difficult in many ways. I don't typically work with such specific ideas or narratives. But this series has been a way of processing the many changes brought on by the process of moving and living in a new place. The work continues to evolve as my thoughts widen to the changes that aging and relocation bring. This page presents a selection of the more than 20 pieces in the series so far.
